Surveying

EDS offers topographic and bathymetric surveying services in all types of environmental settings. Our bathymetric survey vessel fleet includes small one-person catamarans (for sensitive and very shallow habitats), a custom 17' Boston Whaler for small reservoirs and tidal slough channels, and a 23' C-Dory vessel for open water and multi-beam surveys. EDS is committed to using only the best survey technologies available, resulting in a state-of-the-art equipment pool which includes:

Hydrologic Data Collection

EDS offers instrument deployments for the measurement of either the physical or chemical properties of water. We specialize in deploying sensors in coastal lagoons, hyper-saline salt ponds, bays, tidal slough channels, marsh plains, rivers, creeks and lakes. Specific instruments available for rental include:

• Wave gages – acoustic and electromagnetic
• Current meters - acoustic and electromagnetic
• Tide gages – acoustic and pressure
• Optical Backscatter Sensors (OBS)
• Water quality instrumentation
• Automated water sampling systems
• Meteorological stations
• Piezometer installation and monitoring

Geomorphic Assessment

Many field efforts require the combination of automated instrumentation and geomorphic assessment techniques. EDS offers the following techniques:

• Stage-discharge
• Bedload and suspended sediment sampling
• Shallow Vibra-Core sampling
• Sediment Erosion Tables (SET)
• Shear stress testing

Data Reduction and Analysis

Our data collection and quality assurance programs combine to form the remaining component of all our field efforts: data reduction and analysis. EDS utilizes state of the art software to help our clients draw meaningful conclusions from small and large data sets.
