EDS Projects Shortlist
Project: Lake Curry Bathymetric Survey and Monitoring
Client: Hydrologic-Systems, Inc., San Rafael, California
Location: Solano County, California
Description: As part of a reservoir management study designed to reverse eutrophic conditions, EDS conducted a multi-beam bathymetric survey of Lake Curry utilizing RTK-GPS. EDS field personnel also deployed three temperature and turbidity-monitoring buoys throughout the reservoir and a meteorological data collection platform utilizing cell phone modem telemetry.
Project: Montezuma Slough Suspended Sediment Concentrations Study
Client: Wetlands and Water Resources and The University of California at San Francisco
Location: Suisun Bay, Solano County, California
Description: In order to characterize sediment supply in Suisun Bay for future marsh restoration efforts, EDS was contracted to perform 10 ship cruises of Montezuma Slough with deployed Optical Backscatter Sensors. These cruises documented suspended sediment supplies over a full tidal cycle for Spring and Neap conditions.
Project: Valero Refinery Shipping Pier Acoustic Doppler Current Profiling
Client: Valero Oil
Location: Carquinez Straights, Benicia, CA
Description: In order to better understand the effect of strong ebb and flow tidal currents on moored oil tankers, EDS conducted a 12 hour depth-integrated current velocity survey offshore of the Valero Refinery pier. The survey footprint included 7 pre-determined (navigation controlled by DGPS and Hypack) transects that ran perpendicular to the oil refinery dock. The resulting large data base was quality controlled and analyzed in Matlab.
Project: Alameda Point Shipping Channel Pre and Post-Dredge Surveys
Client: Manson Construction, Seattle, Wa
Location: Alameda County, Ca
Description: EDS conducted two narrow-beam Class 1 bathymetric surveys of the entire Alameda Point Shipping Channel. Pre-dredge quantities estimates were calculated using the end-area method in AutoCAD 2000. Post-dredge values were also calculated for payment.
Project: Benicia Marina and Entrance Channel Pre-Dredge Bathymetric Survey
Client: CSA Engineers, Benicia California
Location: Benicia, California
Description: EDS surveyed 75 cross sections at the Benicia Marina entrance channel for pre-dredge volume calculations. This survey also encompassed the entire marina and included over 900 lead line soundings within boat slips. This contract also calls for conditional surveys and post-dredge surveys.
Project: Moss Landing Harbor Bathymetric Survey
Client: Moffatt and Nichol Engineers, Walnut Creek, California
Location: Moss Landing, California
Description: EDS conducted a Class 1 bathymetric survey of the South Harbor at Moss Landing and a portion of the Old Salinas River. The survey was the basis for an elevation grid used for hydraulic modeling.
Project: Peacock Gap Lagoon Bathymetric Survey and Coring
Client: Strategic Environmental, San Rafael, California
Location: San Rafael, California
Description: EDS conducted a Class 1 bathymetric survey of Peacock Gap Lagoon located in San Rafael, California. Bathymetric data were mapped with collected sediment core data in GIS. This effort was part of an overall lagoon water quality management program.
Project: Montezuma Wetland Restoration Monitoring
Client: Far West Engineering, Alameda, California
Location: Suisun Bay, Solano County, California
Description: EDS is monitoring the elevation of placed dredge material within a restoration effort currently underway on Montezuma Slough. The dredge material is being used to “jump start” the expected evolution of the future tidal marsh plain.
Project: Sacramento River Marina Bathymetric Survey
Client: Moffatt and Nichol, Walnut Creek, California
Location: Sacramento River, Sacramento County, California
Description: EDS conducted a Class 1 bathymetric survey of the Sacramento Marina in order to document pre-dredge conditions and facilitate a marina re-design effort.
Project: Charleston Slough Bathymetry Monitoring
Client: Hydroikos Associates, San Rafael, California
Location: Mountain View, California
Description: EDS is conducting quarterly bathymetric surveys of the Charleston Slough managed tidal wetland in Mountain View, California. Specifically, elevations at the toe of a large intake pump are being monitored in detail for cut and fill volume calculations that guide management and flood control decisions.
Project: Crissy Field Wetland Restoration Monitoring
Client: Phil Williams and Associates, National Park Service, San Francisco, California
Location: San Francisco, California
Description: As part of an inlet closure management plan, EDS conducted extensive bathymetric surveys within the Crissy Field restoration site, and offshore in San Francisco Bay. Elevation models are constructed from these data and compared to previous surveys in order to track and quantify sand movement and quantities.
Project: Yuba River Bathymetric Survey
Client: University of California at Davis
Location: Yuba River, Yuba County, California
Description: EDS was contracted to perform a high-resolution bathymetric survey of a Salmon spawning field within the upper Yuba River. The survey encompassed a 2,000 ft reach of riverbed and documented low-flow and high-flow (spring snow melt) channel geomorphology.
Project: Martinez Marina Pre-Dredge Bathymetric and Topographic Surveys
Client: Moffatt and Nichol
Location: Martinez, California
Description: As part of a marina re-design effort, EDS conducted a Class 1, pre-dredge bathymetric survey of the Marina and entrance channel into Carquinez Strait. This effort included an RTK survey of three dredge material holding ponds in order to calculate dredge material storage capacities.
Project:
Aquatic Park Topographic Survey
Client: Hydrologic Systems Inc.
Location: Berkeley, CA
Description: In order to construct a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) which will support a hydrologic modeling effort, EDS conducted an RTK and Total Station Survey of the Aquatic Park ìwatershedî. Over 4,000 survey points were collected which characterized drainage into the lagoon, small wetland areas and hard infrastructure.
